Gum Recession is a condition where the roots of the tooth have become exposed. This can be from several factors. When the tooth roots are exposed, teeth may appear too long and can become sensitive to cold liquids and foods. Also, the exposed roots may be more susceptible to decay.
Soft tissue grafts (gum grafts) are a technique used to treat this problem. The procedure can be used to augment the tissue and minimize further recession, or in some cases, cover the roots of the teeth where excessive recession is present. Your own tissue is used for this and a technique specific to your needs is performed.
